Creating Filming Schedules

Creating a Schedule for Filming in Schools requires consideration of a wide range of variables and typically happens later in the Pre-Production Process after the overall Filming Strategy has been refined and Filming Locations have been selected. While there is never a one-size-fits-all approach to creating a Filming Schedule, we've developed schedule templates that can serve as useful starting points for most Standard 10 Hour Filming Days. Please note that these templates provide approximate timeframes which may significantly change after creative details have been finalized and your School's unique characteristics and logistical challenges have been considered.

For Filming Days when we will be Filming Interviews and B-Roll, we almost always recommend dividing the day into two halves and focusing solely on Interviews or B-Roll during each timeframe. We can be flexible and pursue a Filming Strategy that best serves the Story, which at times may call for quick Interviews on the fly with minimal or no Lighting, but best visual and audio always results from separating Interviews and B-Roll and taking the necessary time to make our shots look and sound great.

Benchmarks:

10 hours from crew arrival to departure

30 minutes for moving equipment from our vehicles to Home Base

30 minutes for preparing filming equipment

2 hours for Interview Room Preparation, Design and Lighting

15-45 minutes for each Interview

10-30 minutes to film each B-Roll Scene

1 hour for lunch break, data management and technical adjustments

45-60 minutes for breaking down and loading out equipment
